BANFF Mountain Film Festival World Tour
The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour, the most prestigious mountain film festivals in the world, will return for its nineteenth year to Morgantown Thursday, April 9 at 7pm at the Metropolitan Theater. The Banff program, including the intermission, is approximately three hours.
This year’s selection of six films from four countries showcases over 2 hours of magnificent cinematography telling powerful stories that reflect a wide range of mountain experiences and portraits from mountain sports, culture and mountain environment to adventure. Selected from over 400 entries, this year’s tour features a collection of the most inspiring and thought-provoking action, environmental, and adventure mountain films with stops in 600 locations in 40 countries in all seven continents.
Some highlights of the films that will be preview:
A Baffin Vacation, Love on Ice (Canada, 2025, 26’); follow a couple as they kiteski north along the remote coastline of Baffin. Over their 69-day holiday, they ski mountains, climb an epic big wall, and cross a glacier in search of new rivers to whitewater kayak.
Best Day Ever *2025 Best Film: Mountain Sports and 2025 Audience Choice Award (USA, 2025, 47’) follows adaptive mountain bikers, a story of grit, independence, and what’s possible when community and creativity come together.
The Hive Architect (UK, 2025, 12’); Matt Sommerville is a committed conservationist, having spent the last 14 years building and installing approximately 800 bee log homes for the dwindling insect populations around the English countryside.
